My expertise comes in research-informed teaching, bringing the latest research into my teaching to inspire the next generation of scientists. I have considerable experience of supporting student learning through one to one feedback, small group tutorial and lecture-based sessions as well as providing laboratory skills teaching.
In addition to formal teaching roles, I also support widening access to Higher Education in collaboration with RCUK-funded projects such as the School-University Partnership initative, and alongside the University Widening Participation team and external charities such as The Brilliant Club.
In 2016 I was awarded Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy in recognition of attainment against the UK Professional Standards Framework for teaching and learning support in Higher Education.
My current teaching responsibilities include:
- Biological Science (BIOL10401) laboratory demonstrator
- Co-supervision of undergraduate final year science communication project
- Lab supervision of undergraduate final year SBS projects and MRes (Reproduction and Pregnancy) project
- PhD tutor for The Brilliant Club charity, designing and delivering multiple in-school university-style tutorials based on my own research
