Dr Kara Ng
Presidential Fellow (Academic)

Overview
I am a Presidential Fellow (assistant professor) in Organisational Psychology. Prior to this, I worked at the Institute of Work Psychology at the University of Sheffield as a postdoctoral research associate. I received my undergraduate degrees in Classics and Psychology from the University of Rochester (USA) and my postgraduate degrees from the University of Manchester. I am also a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. I am currently the academic lead for the Social Change and Inequalities theme of the Thomas Ashton Institute and a member of the Work and Equalities Institute.
My research seeks to understand why people do bad things at work. The main phenomnon I am interested in is workplace bullying and the role bystanders play in its development, but I am also interested in studying workplace incivility, abusive supervision, and counterproductive work behaviours. I have experience in intervention evaluation and am currently part of an mKTP grant developing and evaluating a team agility training programme.
