Research interests

His main research activities approach the sustainable production and separation of value-added chemicals from renewable substrates with a strong focus on Chemical Reaction Engineering and Process Intensification aspects whilst following the guidelines of Green Chemistry.

Some examples of his past efforts feature the production of (bio)fuel additives and green chemicals starting from renewable chemicals, such as glycerol or lignocellulosic sugars. His studies mainly include elements of catalysis and reaction kinetics, fluid phase equilibria, multiphase operations, selection of green solvents for operation and reactor design.
