Biography

I am an Honorary Research Fellow at Manchester as well as Professor of English Linguistics and General Linguistics at the University of Konstanz, Germany. I was Lecturer in English Linguistics at Manchester between 2012 and 2017.

I studied Modern & Medieval Languages (German & French) as an undergraduate at the University of Cambridge, then took the MPhil and PhD in Linguistics there, supervised by David Willis. My PhD was on reconstruction of aspects of the clausal syntax of Proto-Germanic.

I am also the editor of Journal of Historical Syntax.
