Biography

I was awarded a Sociology degree from Sheffield Hallam University (2005 -2008), an MRes from Loughborough University (2008-2009) and an ESRC funded PhD from Loughborough University supervised by Professor Elizabeth Stokoe (2010 -2014). My PhD was an ethnographic and conversation analytic study of service enocunters within public bars.

Since then, I have worked as a research associate on three projects each examining the ways in which policy and/or guidance is enacted in practice. I woked with Professor Elizabeth Stokoe and Professor Charles Antaki on the Police Interviewing Vulnerable Adults (PIVA) project (2013-2014) before moving to the University of Liverpool to evaluate the Care Quality Commission's inspection of mental health services in England with Professor Elizabeth Perkins (2014 -2015).

I joined the Health Management Group, Alliance Manchester Business School in 2015 to work with Professor Kieran Walshe examining the effects of the CQC's inspection and rating regime on provider performance.
