Biography
I received my PhD from the University of York in English Literature, where I focussed on the writer James Baldwin. I joined the University of Manchester in 2012 having previously taught at The University of York and Staffordshire University, as well as stints teaching young offenders, refugees, and asylum seekers. I'm Chair of Manchester University Press's editorial committee and I am a co-founding editor of James Baldwin Review, an annual peer-reviewed journal. I'm the co-founding director of The Manchester Centre for Correspondence Studies, a regular contributor to the Times Literary Supplement, and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.
