Biography
I completed my undergraduate medical training at the University of Birmingham Medical School. My pre-registration and general medical training were undertaken in the teaching hospitals of Birmingham. I trained in rheumatology at the Hammersmith Hospital, London; Guys Hospital, London and the teaching hospitals of Birmingham. My name was placed on the specialist register for rheumatology in 1986. I trained in Epidemiology at the University of Birmingham and at Erasmus University, Rotterdam, the Netherlands. I joined the Arthritis Research UK Epidemiology Unit in 1989. I was promoted to the Chair of Rheumatology and Musculoskeletal Epidemiology in 2001.
