Ms Danielle Mountain

Overview
- I am a second-year PhD student funded by the Pain Relief Foundation in the Division of Musculoskeletal and Dermatological Sciences, Faculty of Biology, Medicine and Health, University of Manchester.
- My project aims to explore and characterise lived experiences of chronic musculoskeletal pain in children and young people, particularly the similarities and differences between those with an inflammatory pathology and those with a non-inflammatory condition.
Biography
I successfully obtained my First Class BSc (Hons) degree in Psychology at the University of Liverpool in 2019 and in 2020 I was awarded a Distinction for my MSc degree in Neuroimaging for Clinical and Cognitive Neuroscience at the University of Manchester. I began my PhD in Health Psychology at the University of Manchester in October 2020.
My PhD project aims to explore and characterise chronic musculoskeletal pain in children and young people, particularly the similarities and differences between those with inflammatory pathologies and those with non-inflammatory pathologies. Multiple areas of pain experiences will be examined using a mixed-methods approach, including healthcare professionals' pain beliefs, and children's and young peoples' pain beliefs, pain behaviours, and pain emotion. Pain experiences will be explored across time to begin to develop pain profiles and patterns dependent on specific pain features associated with these two groups.
