Dan studied Agricultural Economics at Newcastle University before completing his Master's degree and PhD at Manchester where he has remained apart from spells as a Visiting Fellow at the University of Western Australia in 2002 & 2008.

Dan is an adjunct Professor at UWA.

He was an Expert Member of the Food Standards Agency's Social Science Research Committe 2015-16 and is a member of the Editorial Board of the European Review of Agricultural Economics

 He teaches on the Environmental Economics MSc

Ph.D. Supervision:

 I welcome enquiries from students wishing to develop PhD research on:

  • environmental, food & agricultural economics;
  • food production, food safety and the economics of foodborne disease
  • choice experiments - design & analysis & use of CE; their use to investigate economic and environmental issues;
  • survey design and eliciting preferences
  • (the economics of) plagiarism;
