My research deals with the cultural history of the medieval Mediterranean, focusing on the built environment and visual culture in southern Italy from the tenth to the twelfth centuries. I am interested in the connectivity of the Mediterranean world and how people from different areas of the Mediterranean interacted through trade, crusade, pilgrimage, war and cultural exchange.
I am working on my first book, From Byzantine to Norman Italy: Architecture and Civic Life in Medieval Bari (under contract with IB Tauris).
