Biography

Christos Begkos joined the Accounting and Finance Division as a Lecturer (Assistant Professor) in Management Accounting in August 2015. He previously held an appointment as a Research Associate at Manchester Business School (2012-2015), as a member of a research team that explored the current use and future potential of patient-level costing systems in the NHS. 
  
Christos completed his PhD studies at Manchester Business School, focussing on medical managers' strategic-decision making with the use of accounting information. During his doctoral studies, he received awards from the Bodossakis Foundation and the Karelias Foundation. He also obtained an MSc in Economics and International Financial Economics from the University of Warwick, and a BSc in Business Administration from the University of Macedonia (Thessaloniki, Greece).
 
 Christos' research interests are in the areas of management accounting and strategy, public sector accounting, management control systems, healthcare costing and mixed-methods research. Most of his current research focuses on the interplay between accounting and strategizing, exploring the role of non-accountants' financial training, competence and engagement with accounting information, accounting systems, artefacts and tools.
 
 
He has teaching experience in both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, on courses in management accounting, healthcare management and research methods.
