Research interests

Chris's main teaching areas include organisation theory, social studies of innovation and change, research methodology, and actor network theory. These overlap with her research work in which she has a keen interest in the ways in which we understand the complex process and practices of managing and organising. She has been involved in a variety of empirical research projects using an ethnographic style of investigation and she is currently involved in a project exploring the management, governance and organisation of primary and secondary education. This includes examining attempts to redesign systems of governance, accountability, leadership and control. In particular, the project seeks to explore how this links to practices of performance measurement and the possible impacts on the production of creative learning experiences.
