Biography
Dr. Charles Cui is a Senior Lecturer (Associate Professor) at the University of Manchester Alliance Manchester Business School. His research is in international marketing and cross-cultural consumer research. His current work includes consumer brand addiction, socially inclusive marketing in culturally diverse societies, cross-cultural consumption values and frontiers of new technology and social media in marketing.
Dr. Cui is the Programme Director of MSc Corporate Communications and Reputation Management and MSc Marketing at Alliance Manchester Business School. He has designed and taught the courses of International Marketing (UG, MSc, MBA), Principles of Marketing (UG, MSc), Marketing Research (UG), Critical Thinking (PhD), Survey Design (PhD, DBA), Foundation Statistics (PhD) and Social Research Methods (DBA).
Dr. Cui has supervised eight PhD students with successful completion. Currently he is supervising two PhD students and three DBA students.
Dr. Cui holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Development Studies (University of Lancaster, UK), MA with Distinction in International Business Management (De Montfort University, UK) and PhD in International Business Management (De Montfort University, UK). He started as Lecturer in Marketing at De Montfort University and continued his academic career in UMIST School of Management, Manchester Business School (after the merger of UMIST and the Vicotria University of Manchester), and Alliance Manchester Business School.
Prior to his academic career, Dr. Cui received professional training in mechanical engineering, and worked in the manufacture sector, international trade and with a Sino-British joint venture in China. He provided services for senior executive training (e.g. Rolls-Royce plc, the Business Link) and has been consulted by British firms on developing business in China.
