Research interests

  • I am a co-applicant on a £5million, five-year 'Neighbourhoods and Dementia' research programme, which is a dementia initiative funded by the ESRC and NIHR. As well as co-managing the research programme alongside Prof John Keady, I am responsible for leading the member involvement strategy, which includes training and supporting people living with dementia to be co-researchers across each of the work streams and packages for the duration of the research programme.
  • I am also a co-applicant on a three-year NIHR Health Services and Delivery Research grant exploring pain management in people living with dementia in acute care.
  • I have recently been awarded funding by Salford Clinical Commissioning Group to lead on three projects:1) Exploring the experiences of living with someone with dementia in Salford; 2) Exploring the value, meaning and purpose of day care; 3) Developing a Carer Support Resource.
  • My research interests include dementia; member involvement; life story / biography; and pain assessment.
  • I supervise four PhD students
  • I also supervise several U/G students
