Research interests

I am interested in studying long term evolutionary trends and seeing how environment and other external factors can have an impact on the world around us.

I currently study these long term trends in birds.  I am particularly interested in birds since the group as a whole has a relatively generic body plan with important functional features being common across the entire lineage.  This it means that it is possible to isolate specific features that are common across the entire avian lineage, such a beak, and then track how the shape and function of that feature changes through time in response to climatic and environmental changes.

Comparative anatomy is a key part of this and another research interest of mine.  I am planning on comparing different avian morphological variables so that I can better understand niche partitioning within the avian lineage.
