Overview

I am currently a Research Associate in Medication Safety. I am currently working on a research project developing a pharmaceutical care complexity tool for acute hospital settings. I am also working on a systematic review focusing on avoidable iatrogenic harm.

Biography

I achieved my Masters degree in Pharmacy (MPharm) from the University of Sunderland in 2010. I completed my pre-registration pharmacist training at Leighton hospital in Crewe and Lloyds pharmacy in Beaconsfield. Following registration as a pharmacist with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) in 2011, I worked and continue to work, as a locum community pharmacist. I completed my PhD from the University of Manchester in the area of Prescribing and Patient Safety in 2016. My research is based on the learning and clinical reasoning processes of pharmacist and nurse independent prescribers who work in secondary care. I used a qualitative approach to investigate the process of learning to prescribe, and how non-medical independent prescribers make clinical decisions. I am currently a Research Associate in the research area of Medication Safety.
