Research interests

Adrian's research is focused on improving outcomes after intracerebral haemorrhage, a devastating form of stroke with poor outcomes and few treatments. His NIHR award funded an early phase, multicentre observational study embedded in the MISTIE III trial of minimally invasive surgery, a  multiparametric PET/MR imaging study and a clinical trial, all aimed at understanding the therapeutic potential of modulating the inflammatory response to intracerebral haemorrhage.

He also leads a programme of work combining implementation science and health informatics to improve patient outcomes after stroke, with work focused on improving outcomes after intracerebral haemorrhage by ensuring optimal delivery of standard care and improving pre-hopsital recognition of stroke.

Methodological knowledge

  • Preclinical models of intracerebral haemorrhage
  • Magnetic resonance imaging (preclinical and clinical)
  • Positron emission tomography
  • Observational clinical research and clinical trials
