Responding to Non-Liberal Minorities within a Liberal State: The Challenge Posed by Children and Vulnerable Adults

Research output: Contribution to journalArticle

Abstract

Liberal, democratic States should respond to non-liberal minorities, in order to preserve their liberal democratic character. This is 'imperative self-preservation', but at the same time such a necessary action should not violate the competing liberal imperative to respect minority rights. This article explores the tensions and challenges in this area, particularly in relation to children and vulnerable adults within those minorities.
