Modelling Multi Colorant Subtractive Mixture Using Colour Value and Spectral Level Parameters

Abstract

The complex relationship between the addition of colorants to any given substrate and the observed visual effect thus generated is analysed using CIE colorimetry and Kubelka Munk (K M) formula dataset linearization. The relationship is shown to be both reciprocally nonlinear and multidimensional and the published models by Allen and Derbyshire are found to be sub-optimal approximations. In this interim report, improved reciprocal function models of subtractive colour mixture are derived using colorimetric analysis.
