How circular are circular business models

Abstract

The purpose of this chapter is to focus on one of the 21st century buzzwords, namely the circular economy, by exploring how circular these circular business models are. The chapter draws on the luxury fashion industry, by investigating some companies further and outlines opportunities and challenges that the circular economy brings. It further touches upon what could be changed in order to move away from the proverbial square peg that is forced into a round whole, towards considerations that can move the industry towards more circular practices.
