Electrochemistry of cytochrome c at the liquid-liquid interface

The potential-controlled electron-transfer reaction between cytochrome c and 1,l′-dimethylferrocene at a liquid-liquid interface is reported. In this new approach to protein electrochemistry, the electron transfer process is apparently transport controlled, rather than adsorption limited. Furthermore, electron transfer at the liquid-liquid interface more closely resembles the situation of the protein in vivo.
