Abstract

This monograph re-examines the great stone circles of northern Britain in the third millennium BC. Elevating the idea of construction, stone circles are examined as monumental 'architectures of construction'. By looking at their constitution and form new insights are gained into these extraordinary monuments. This monograph is based on a ten year research project.
