Electromagnetic Sensing Group

Description

Founded following the merger of The Victoria University of Manchester and UMIST in 2004, the Electromagnetic Sensing Group in the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering undertakes a range of research using electromagnetic sensing techniques across a wide bandwith – from DC to microwave, with a focus on real-world application.

This research can broadly be separated into three main themes: Non-Destructive Testing (NDT); Security and Detection; and Biomedical Diagnostics. Our group, consisting of over 30 members, encompasses a range of expertise including electromagnetic modelling and simulation; data analysis and inversion; system hardware development; position and high-speed electronic design; high-performance digital system design; and system integration - all with a proven record of technology transfer.
