Creative Adaptive Solutions for Treescapes of Rivers (AWARD)

Internal description

There are 240,000 km of rivers and waterways in England with the potential for expanding woodlands and trees. Restoring and rewilding riparian woodlands can create new habitats for nature recovery, drawn down carbon and improve water management.
CASTOR will explore and provide solutions to the potential challenges associated with expanding treescapes. We will look at the natural and cultural heritage of these depleted habitats and investigate how their regeneration stands to benefit local communities.
We will explore how these woodlands can help nature and climate recover through wilder, better-connected landscapes.
