Release date: 9/1/2020

Description

From Jodrell Bank, Dr Iain Mcdonald was interviewed on the BBC World Service’s Science in Action [13:30], on the recent dimming of the light from Betelgeuse, usually one of the brightest stars in the night sky. As Betelgeuse is a red supergiant at the end of its solar life, some astronomers think it may be about to go supernova, though Dr Mcdonald believes this is unlikely.
