Guidance for commissioners of primary mental health services for deaf people

Impact: Health impacts

Narrative

The Joint Commissioning Panel for Mental Health (Royal College of Psycciatry) published a set of guidelines for commissioners. This one refers to services for deaf adults who use BSL. Prof Alys Young, Chief Investigator of the NIHR funded research study of effectiveness and cost effectiveness of BSL IAPT in comparison with Standard IAPT, was co-opted onto the expert reference group, and co-wrote sections of the guidelines. The guidelines reference this research study and its findings directly in several places as part of the evidence base for commissioning.
