Overview

Research in the School reflects the interdisciplinary nature of modern chemistry research. Nine interconnected research themes build on our world-leading expertise to develop capabilities and to use them to target the challenges facing society.

Our world-class research capabilities and the innovative methods we develop are reflected in these research themes:

  1. Analytical and Physical Methods
  2. Chemical Biology
  3. Computational Chemistry
  4. Materials Chemistry
  5. Nuclear and Radiochemistry
  6. Synthesis

These themes feed into four further themes concerned with the challenges we address:

  1. Energy and Environment
  2. Life and Health
  3. New Technologies
  4. Sustainability
