Global Development Institute
The University of Manchester has been at the forefront of development studies for over 60 years.
The Global Development Institute continues the commitment to addressing global poverty and inequality, by uniting the strengths of the Institute for Development Policy and Management and the Brooks World Poverty Institute.
We’re the largest dedicated development research and teaching institute in Europe, led jointly by Professors Diana Mitlin and David Hulme. The results of the most recent Research Excellence Framework ranked GDI first for impact ranking in Development Studies in the UK, with many of our researchers deemed to be 'world leading'.
