The Editorial Board and Associate Editorial Board of ‘Dementia’ consist of world-class social scientists drawn from the academic, policy and practice communities internationally, including representation from the Scottish Dementia Working Group, a user forum. A total of twelve countries are represented on the Editorial Boards of Dementia to encourage and support submissions from a global perspective. The dual USA-UK axis of the Journal Editors (Professors John Keady. UK - Phyllis Braudy Harris, USA) consolidates partnership working and provides stability for the journal. There were 161,396 articles downloaded in 2016; in 2015 the average downloads for all Sage journals in their Health & Nursing discipline was 70,277. Visits to Dementia came from readers in 183 countries, with readers on every continent. Dementia was accepted for Indexing in the Thompson Reuters SSCI in 2015 and received its first Impact Factor in mid-June 2015 [0.92 placing the journal 22/32 in the world-wide Gerontology category].The impact factor climbed to 1.09 in June 2016 placing the Dementia journal 19/32 in the world-wide Gerontology category and to 1.768 in June 2017 placing the journal 14/32 in the world-wide Gerontology category.
