The main discussion meeting was an open, free event organised by Professor Andrew Scott, Professor William Chaloner FRS, Dr Claire Belcher and Professor Chris Roos.

Proceedings of both meetings were published in a Special issue of Transactions of the Royal Society B.

At the Chicheley Hall meeting, ahalf-day of presentations was followed by lunch-time poster session (McMorrow, 2016). Papers based on the presentations included two co-authored by McMorrow; Gazzard et al. (2016) and Davies et al., (2016a) which developed from Kettridge's paper. Davies et al. (2016a) led to media coverage and vigorous stakeholder and academic debate (Davies et al., 2016b, 2016c).

The remaining one and half days was organised into three discussion strands and two plenaries. McMorrow and Aylen chaired the UK discussion strand. It produced a wildfire research agenda for the UK, which was published as online supplementary material to the Roos paper (McMorrow et al., 2016).
