This talk investigated whether the relative system of Reunion Creole (RC) constitutes evidence for its "semi-creole" status. It presented the findings of a text analysis of documents written in RC. It compared the findings against the relative systems of the other Indian Ocean creoles (IOC) and French. It showed that for subject and direct object headed relative clauses, the relativising strategies used in RC are closer to the IOC than French, but that further research is needed to investigate obliques, genitives and objects of comparison.
