Academic identity and religious identity: cognitive dissonance in students' higher education learning and assessment

Activity: Other

Description

Since 2014, together with my research partner Paul Smith, the subject of religious identity in university students has been explored. The purpose is to determine the extent to which, if at all, religious identities can peacefully co-exist with the identity of 'university student'. If there is indeed an identity clash, then what is the reason? What can be done to remedy this, or at least address it? We have so far received both internal and external funding for over £15,000 to conduct two studies on this matter and have presented our findings at the BERA conference at the University of Leeds (2016), as well as being published in Critical Studies in Teaching and Learning (CriSTaL) in 2016.
