Dhruba Borah is a Doctoral Researcher and Graduate Teaching Assistant at Alliance Manchester Business School, The University of Manchester, UK and currently working as a Visiting Researcher at the Department of Management Engineering, Politecnico Milan, Italy. Dhruba’s PhD thesis title is “Challenges for Offshoring Research & Development (R&D) to Emerging Countries: Evidence from foreign MNC’s R&D subsidiaries in India”. Dhruba teaches the following undergraduate subject: BMAN30010 Management, Technology & Innovation. In his academic career, Dhruba has received several prestigious fellowships, which include “Dissertation grant from Strategic Research Foundation of the Strategic Management Society for his PhD thesis", "RADMA doctoral grant, postgraduate project support and conference funding for his PhD thesis", "Alliance Manchester Business School PhD Studentship", "Eu Spri PhD Mobility grant for his visiting research project at Politecnico Milan", "R&D Management Conference funding", "Swedish Institute Study Scholarship for Masters' degree in Sweden", "Conference funding from Vinnova, Swedish Research Agency" and "Irish Research Council Postgraduate Scholarship for MPhil degree in Ireland (not availed)". Prior to his PhD studies, Dhruba obtained his Master degree in Industrial Engineering and Management with a specialization in Innovation Management from Linkoping University, Sweden and Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering from National Institute of Technology, Silchar, India. In the year 2016, Dhruba also worked as visiting research student for three months at United Nations Asia Pacific Centre for Technology Transfer (UN APCTT), New Delhi, where he submitted a technical report documenting a critical evaluation of four most popular innovation promoting schemes of Government of India for SMEs.

Social responsibility

Dhruba has been working as an advisor at Xonkolpo, a social enterprise in India since August 2013. The main reason behind establishing this social enterprise is to create a research environment within the country and motivate the Indian youth to go for higher education &  research. It organizes seminars, talks, online sessions and provides the students with necessary information regarding the universities, courses, scholarships, application processes. Dhruba personally offers information regarding post-graduate studies / research in Scandinavian Countries and the UK.
