I am a final year PhD student for the EPSRC & MRC Centre for Doctoral Training (CDT) in Regenerative Medicine, based in the Department of Materials.

My research is focused on the fabrication, characterisation and in vitro applications of a novel self-assembling peptide/graphene oxide hydrogel nanocomposite for the tissue engineering of nucleus pulposus (NP), the inner core of intervertebral disc (IVD). I am currently investigating on the interactions occurring between encapsulated NP cells and the peptide hybrid matrix and I aim to use this information to create 3D injectable scaffold/tissue templates for IVD repair.

My supervisory team is composed by Prof Alberto Saiani, Prof Judith Hoyland and Dr Aravind Vijayaraghavan
