Clara is a Lecturer in Project Management and Project Management Professional (PMP) certified by Project Management Institute (PMI). Prior to joining the university, she has over seven-year experience teaching a variety of project management units in the University of Maryland, the USA. Clara has a mixed of business and engineering educational background. She got a bachelor degree in Business Administration from Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, MSc and PhD in Civil Engineering from the University of Maryland, the USA. Her research interest is studying the dynamics of human behaviours, organisational settings and project productivty through conducting interdisciplinary research. Clara’s recent publications include applying positive psychology and organisational theories to study construction safety management, and wellbeing at work of project professionals. Since she joined the university in 2017, she has secured approximately £465,000 in three externally funded research projects as the principal and co-investigator. She got funded by the Association for Project Management (APM) to benchmark the well-being levels of project professionals and develop corresponding interventions to enhance it. Recently, she received funding from the Lloyds Register Foundation to collaborate with Health and Safety (HSE) and Thomas Aston Institute to implement two applied research projects to improve occupational health and safety in the construction industry. Before being an academic, Clara led a vast number of IT projects in Fortune 500 companies to improve operational and safety performance, experienced working in Australia, China, India, and the USA.
