Cemsel is an NIHR Manchester BRC funded PhD student (Cancer Sciences) whose research focuses on developing an endometrial cancer risk prediction model using genomics data. Recently, she went on a 3-month placement in Cambridge funded by NIHR SPARC award.
Cemsel obtained her Bachelors degree from The University of Manchester in Developmental Biology, and her Masters degree from Imperial College London in Reproductive and Developmental Biology. Afterwards, Cemsel worked at University of Oxford in alliance with Bayer AG for two years investigating novel therapeutic targets for endometriosis related to immunity and inflammation. In 2017, she worked at Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute to pilot the diagnostic use of menstrual blood for a number of endometrial pathologies, using single cell approach.
