Commencing October 2015 I was awarded a 4-year Wellcome Trust Ph.D. studentship at the University of Manchester in Dynamics of Cellular Regulatory Networks. During the first year of this programme, I undertook three rotation projects; I studied angiogenesis in Zebrafish, motor protein function and movement in vitro, and live imaging of Drosophila embryogenesis. From September 2016 I started working on my chosen Ph.D. project entitled: Dynamic gene expression during Drosophila embryogenesis. Under the mentorship of Professor Hilary Ashe, I investigate the transcriptional regulation of BMP signalling target genes involved in early cell fate decisions. I address my objectives using a combination of fixed and live imaging approaches.
