Overview

Dr Hughes' research interests lie in educational  leadership, school structures and critical policy studies. Hughes is interested in network ethnography in investigating the interplay between agency, power and structure. Hughes' main  research involves and leadership practices of school systems  using Arendtian thinking to help understand and interpret research. Hughes' doctoral study focused on education policy and  leadership practices within a multi-academy trust in England. Hughes is Department  co-ordinator for PGR admissions. Hughes is   a Lecturer in Education within MIE and teaches on the Education Leadership Masters programme and Education Leadership in Practice. Hughes is  a member of the Critical Education Leadership and Policy Research group,  a  member of BELMAS and BERA. Previously, Hughes  worked in schools as a senior leader both in Hong Kong and in the UK.
