Barbara Waters is a Lecturer in Fashion Business in the Department of Materials. She teaches fashion management and business ethics, sustainability and CSR on the BSc fashion business programmes, and supervises dissertation students on the MSc programmes.
Barbara gained her MSc degree in Marketing from the University of Salford and her BA degree in Textile Marketing from the University of Huddersfield. She is currently in the final stages of a part-time PhD, investigating the use of fashion brand names in popular fiction.
Prior to joining the University of Manchester in July 2019, Barbara was leader of the BA Fashion Marketing programme at the University of Leeds. She also previously worked at the University of Bolton, where she was a Principal Lecturer teaching Fashion and Textile Marketing.
Barbara is Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Marketing and Chartered Marketer, a Fellow of the Textile Institute and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. She is currently External Examiner for the MA Fashion Retail Management programme at University of the Arts London (London College of Fashion).
