I’m doing PhD study (full time) in Basic Dental Science/ Cancer Studies. The aim of the research is to identify biomarkers for Oral Squamous Cell Carcinoma (OSCC) using E-cadherin (cell adhesion molecule) loss model and assessing the impact of this molecule on DNA methylation pattern. I've cultured a variety of cell lines and I extracted their proteins and genes in attempt to evalute the level of expression of specific biomarkers in normal cells, embryonic stem cells, tumour cell lines and OSCC tissue sections. In addition, I have good background in anatomy and histology of the oral cavity as my Master study was in oral surgery and anatomy. This has enabled me to do multiple minor surgical procedures in the mouth and treat differrent diseases that require surgical intervention. These surgical procedures include; endodontic surgery, dentoalveolar fracture fixation, extraction of teeth, surgical removal of wisdom teeth, surgical removal of cystst and lumps up to 2 cm in diameter under local anasthesia, treatment of post-extraction complications and management of oroantral communication.
