I joined Sociology and the Morgan Centre for the Study of Relationships and Personal Life at the University of Manchester in the autumn of 2009. I had previously studied both Sociology and Gender Studies as an undergraduate and postgraduate student at the University of Lund, Sweden, and also at the University of York, UK. I completed my PhD at the Centre for Women's Studies, University of York in 2009, and in this I explored lesbian couples' experiences of becoming and being parents using donor insemination. I joined the University of Manchester in 2009, and in March 2013 I completed the ESRC funded research project 'Relative Strangers: Negotiating Non-genetic Kinship in the Context of Assisted Conception'  together with Prof Carol Smart (PI). Since April 2013, I hold a lectureship in Sociology at the Universty. In January 2017, I start a new ESRC funded project exploring egg and sperm donors in a UK context. The project is called 'Curious Connections: The Impact of Donating Egg and Sperm on Donors' Everyday Life and Relationships'.
