Biography

I studied German and French translation with interpreting as an undergraduate and continued my postgraduate studies into translation research with the help of a scholarship from the German Academic Exchange Service. My teaching career began with a lectureship in German at UMIST, where I also completed my PhD in the area of translation process research. For a number of years I have been part of a very active translation and interpreting studies team at the University of Manchester and am currently co-director of our research centre, the Centre for Translation and Intercultural Studies (CTIS).
